Chicago Surface Lines car # 144 on the trolley loop. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. August 2006.

I took this photo during an August 2006 visit to The Illinois Railway Museum.

A preserved and operable part of Chicago's transit history past, is Chicago Surface Lines electric streetcar # 144. This vintage trolley car was built by the Pulman Standard Car Company of Chicago in the year of 1908. It operated on Chicago city streets until May of 1954 under the Chicago Transit Authority.
It was kept on the CTA roster for special fan trips and charters until the end of all Chicago streetcar service in June of 1958.

It has been lovingly restored and operates today at the Illinois Railway Museum.
