Penn Central Baldwin yard switcher #8339 at camden New Jersey. November 1975. From the internet.

I spotted this photograph at My links page Fallen Flags.Org to the right of Your computer screen.

The Baldwin Locomotive Works wich for many decades happened to be a successful builder of steam locomotives, unfortunately didn't make it as a diesel locomotive builder after World War 2 had ended, and left the business for good during the mid 1950's.

Two of the railroads that had made up the Penn Central merger in 1968, the New York Central and the Pennsylvania Railroad....were large users of Baldwin diesel locomotives. By the early to mid 1970's, they were finally being phased out from service.

That crane boom in the background, indicates that this photo taken at Camden New Jersey may very well be inside a scrap yard.
