Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.
I took this photo on location , at the West Lake Avenue railroad crossing in north suburban Glenview Illinois. A northbound Union Pacific local freight passes by, on the former Chicago & NorthWesttern Railroad freight only cut off line near Techny Illinois.
This freight only bypass route, is refered to by local Chicago area railfans as "The Union Pacific Techny Line". This diagonal north and south route, takes freight trains off of the Metra / Canadian Pacific exMilwaukee Road northline south of Northbrook Illinois, and Union Pacific freight trains off of the Metra ex C & N W northline to Kenosha Wisconsin south of Waukegan Illinois. This line connects to the Canadian Pacific Bensenville Yard, and the Union Pacific Proviso Yard near Chicago's O" Hare International Airport.
