One of the more distinctive color schemes in the history of North American railroads, had to be the blue and gray colors of the former Missouri Pacific Railroad.

I believe that this color scheme was introduced during the late 1940's, and was originally used on the company's diesel powered Eagle series streamliner passenger trains. One 4-6-2 steam locomotive from the Missouri Pacific subsidiary Texas & Pacific had recieved this color scheme as well. A number of diesel locomotives in freight service also wore these colors.

The blue and gray color scheme, would prove to be costly and difficult to maintain. Just like fellow blue and gray color scheme wearing Baltimore & Ohio had done, the Missouri Pacific had switched to a solid blue "Dip Job" paint scheme by the late 1950's and early 1960's era.
